Serial Number: 231345-LW
Date of Manufacture: 1967

The left front of the trigger guard is marked with a “VP” in a triangle and at the left rear with a “T”.
Barrel Length: The barrel is 2”.
Sights / Optics: This revolver is mounted with a square notched rear sight milled into the top strap, and a ramped front sight fixed to the barrel.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The grips are two-piece smooth black rubber with silver Rampant Colt medallions at the tops of the grips. The grips are oversized, and enclose the front strap and the bottom of the grip, with a finger groove at the bottom of the front strap for the little finger of the shooting hand. The grips show a few light handling marks. The grips rate in about Excellent overall condition.
Type of Finish: The barrel, cylinder and trigger are blued, the frame, crane and sideplate are black anodized aluminum and the front and rear faces of the hammer have a matte black finish while the sides are finished bright.
Finish Originality: All Original
Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion. The bore, cylinder and inside surfaces of the recoil shields appear as though this revolver was never fired outside the factory.
Overall Condition: This revolver retains about 99+% of its finish. There is a small mark at the right front corner of the frame and a tiny mark through the finish at the left rear bottom corner of the cylinder window, where the cylinder hits when it is open. There is also a single spot of pinprick surface erosion in the cylinder. The cylinder does not have a drag line. The hammer knurling is sharp. The left frame screw and the grip screw are distressed. The markings are clear. Overall, this gun rates in about Fine to Excellent condition.
Mechanics: The cylinder lock-up on this revolver is SOLID on all six chambers. The trigger is smooth in double action and crisp in single action. The trigger is narrow and serrated, and the hammer is narrow and knurled. The action functions correctly. We have not fired this revolver. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: None
Our Assessment: The Agent and Cobra were both light weight versions of the Detective Special, with alloy frames. The early Agents were intended to be a highly concealable undercover revolver with a minimal grip to aid concealment. They therefore had a shorter grip frame than the Cobra. The original owner of this revolver must have wanted a Cobra and couldn’t find one, so he replaced with checkered wooden grips on this pistol with oversized smooth rubber grips, offering a grip length about 5/8” of inch longer than the standard Agent. We are not quite sure what happened then, since the revolver appears unfired since it left the factory. It seems strange not to see hundreds of hours of carry wear in the finish with the owner having to go out of his way to change the grips. In any event, what we have here is a nearly pristine 1st Variation Agent with an unshrouded ejector rod. We think Colt collectors will be interested in this revolver due to its nice finish, and will have to bid against anyone wanting the ultimate light-weight six shot revolver for concealed carry.
CA Legal or CA Private Party Transferable: This C&R eligible revolver CAN be transferred as a dealer sale in California and CAN be sold as a Private Party Transfer (PPT) at our Simi Valley shop. All cartridge firing handguns (even C&R's and antiques) sold to a California resident must be DROS'd. This does not apply to out of state residents.

COLT AGENT 'D' FRAME. The Agent was basically the early Cobra, only made with a special short grip frame. The Agent was intended to be a highly concealable undercover revolver with a minimal grip to aid concealment.
