Engelhard 10 Oz Silver Bar Serial Number Lookup

I've been attempting to locate some information, but have not been satisfied with what I have found thus far. I have in my possession three Engelhard gold bars and each is within a close fitting, supple plastic sleeve that is then stapled to an assay card. Each bar is 0.9999 fine gold and has a serial number stamped into it that matches the serial number on the assay card and also the serial number on the accompanying white cardstock envelope that houses the bar-assay card combination. At this time I have one of each the 1g, 0.5 troy ounce and 1.0 troy ounce. These were purchased sometime between 1982 and 1998 and the Engelhard cards contain the address of Iselin, NJ on them. What might be the premiums, if any, that these bars should be valued at or that they might be sold at? I have looked through the board archives going back over a year and have not found the information that I am looking for. Likewise, searching ebay for active and closed auctions has not helped. I'll get images up later today if they are requested. Thanks.

    Retail pricing .........
    1 gram Engelhard gold bars in the COA ......... $50 to $60 each is the norm. [ closer to $50 - $55 though.]
    1/2 oz. Engelhard gold bars in the COA ......... $75 to $100 over spot is the norm. [ SLIGHTLY tougher bar to find ... but NOT rare. ]
    1 oz. Engelhard gold bars in the COA ........... $ 60 to $100 over spot is the norm.
    A good dealer will pay $42 for the 1 gram , spot + $20 for the 1/2 oz. and the 1 oz.

  • I actually collect the little 1 gram bars with their assay cards.
    They are fairly popular on ebay but most dealers will not pay more than spot, they would also sell them for around spot.
    The one gram bars are the most fun with a letter prefix from A to N and four digits after that.
    There are small details like letter A and B both have the engelhard logo with the bull sign plus the m.c.
    then C, D , E have the bull sign but not the m.c then after they no longer have the bull or the m.c
    From what i can gather these are circa 1982-1986 and were most likely used as incentives for companies to give to employes , especially Air Alaska which used them as frequent flyer reward.
    The larger bars were probably sold to investors.
    I am always interested in the 1 Gram ( with assay card) so if anyone has any to sell please let me know ...
    The 1 gram , 5 gram and 1 ounce bars carry the smallest premium.
    the 2.5 gram ( never seen one ) the 10 gram one and the 1/10 and 1/4 rounds carry huge premiums.
    They also have platinum and palladium bars ( with assay )but their premium is average.
